Oscar Nominations 2009
full list here. What do you think? what sort of films seem to be included? What sort of films are excluded? Is there any bias towards men or women? How many women are nominated in the technical categories?
Slumdog deserves it guess, if only for trying something a bit different, but I have funny feeling it could be Sean Penn's year and 'Milk' will clean up. I hope Man on Wire gets best documentary (blimmin amazing, ask me if you want to borrow it)
Maybe The Curious Case of Benjamin Button should get Best Picture... that looks really good and it will be David Fincher's first Oscar. I think he deserved one for both Se7en and Fight Club, so perhaps his time is now.
The Academy definitely likes a film with a lot of scope and TCC of BB certainly looks like it fills that criteria. I still think Milk though. Reckon the whole tolerance to all men fits in nicely with Obama-mania! Am going to see it tonight so will let you know what I think.

I hope Slumdog Millionaire wins Best Picture and Heath Ledger wins Best Supporting Actor.
