A2 Film holiday work

It's all about planning your film now. You need to have the following bases covered by the time we return

1 Locations and Actors- with images if possible
2 Character Descriptions (25 words on each character)
3 Costumes
4 Props
5 Sketched Storyboard- I will give you some sheets for this. It is crucial that you do this as it will
ensure that you think visually about every moment of your film
6 Screenplay- you need to start thinking about what characters will actually say. (if you are using
dialogue) This does not need to be totally finished, but I want to see a start. Use this downloadable
template and also have a look at this example from QT

Please make sure that all your work is cut and pasted from this doc into a new doc that is just your own. Call it 'My Film' and share it with me.

Good Luck!

PS- nice Pulp Fiction analysis here.

Conduct a textual analysis on a media advertisement of your choosing. You can do a print or television ad. Try to use some of the new language and terminology that we have been learning in class. Use the Documents you have in google drive.

Please create a new google drive document, share it with me and name it 'First Prep Task'.
please include a link to the text that you have analysed.

Try to write between 600-700 words minimum.

Due in on Thurs week 2 at midday.

Good Luck!

A2 Media- Holiday Work

1 create a google document called CI
2 complete the first 1000 words of your CI essay
3 this needs to be completed by the first lesson back after the summer

You will not be able to complete this task without doing plenty of research in advance. Have a look at Hannah Tutt's essay to get a feel for the standard you need to be reaching. Ava Braddock's is also another good example

It is absolutely imperative that you complete this task. Failure to do so will signify your disinterest in continuing Media at A2 Level.

It does not have to be perfect. You are only just starting this project and it does not need to completed until Christmas. You do however, need to demonstrate that you are committed to the process and have made a good start.

Good Luck!

L6th Media Holiday Work

Please fully research and plan both of these answers IN DETAIL. This should take you at least 3 hours to plan and research each question. A good plan should be AT least two sides of A4 in note form.
Use your class notes
Use the material on google drive
Use mediaedu
look at the mark schemes here (Q1 is from June 2011 and Q2 is from Jan 2011)

Plan each answer in real detail. I want to see these plans so you need to do them in neat handwritten form.Only when you have completed the research and planning in full should you complete the questions. Handwritten only.

Submit the handwritten answer and your detailed plans in the first lesson after Easter.

Finally, please make sure that you fully revise all the analysis work that we have done in class.Go to drive and search for 'analysis' and you will find all the work we have done on all the different texts. Pleasego over all this material, making detailed notes about the theories and terminology we have studied. Hand these notes in along with your other work.

1 'To be successful, media institutions have to use a variety of media platforms.'
To what extent is this true of your cross-media study? In your answer you should:

provide a brief outline of your cross-media study,
consider the possible advantages of using a range of media platforms
support your answer with reference to a range of examples from three media platforms

2 How far have improvements in technology made a difference to the quality of
audience experience? In your answer you should:

  • provide a brief outline of your case study
  • evaluate the impact of new technologies on the audience's ability to interact with and/or enjoy media products from your case study
  • support your answer with reference to a range of examples from three media platforms.

U6th Film- Holiday Work for Mr Williams

Pick two of the following questions. Research them thoroughly. Complete a detailed essay plan. Revise it. Then, once you are completely happy with your understanding, complete the question under strict exam conditions. Handwrite unless you will be typing in the exam. Allow 50 minutes for your answer. Submit both the finished essays and your detailed plans on the first lesson back after Easter.  HANDWRITTEN!

In what ways can it be argued that Vertigo is a 'A film about film'?

How is Vertigo a “Hitchcock” film?

How does Hitchcock use micro techniques to create meaning in vertigo?
You can refer to camera, music, editing and mise-en-scene in your answer

Explore some of the ways in which Hitchcock attempts to manage the audience response to Scottie

as the narrative of Vertigo unfolds

This link should give you plenty of extra material. There is tonnes of fascinating material here that we just hadn't had time to cover in lessons.

In addition to this, you also need to fully revise all the material we have covered on the emotional cinema unit. ET, Psycho, Breaking the Waves, Life is Beautiful, Pan's Labyrinth.

Look at..

All paper handouts
All the material on Drive
All the material on this blog (Breaking the waves for example)

You should be aiming for at least 2 hours revision on each film, plus 8 hours working on the two Vertigo essays. This amounts to about 18 hours of work. Good Luck!!

A2 Media- Easter Holiday Work

A2 Media- Easter Work

It's all about preparing yourselves for exam now. This means getting to a point where you 'know it on paper' rather than just knowing it in your head. The only way to get to this level is consistent revision and exam practice.

So.... You need to thoroughly revise all the material on the impact of new media unit . Concentrate on learning the following.

Key Quotes from The Virtual Revolution
Key Statisitics from the Virtual Revolution
Key Examples from the Virtual Revolution, Shirky, Google Glass, Wikileaks, Postmodernism, Enzensberger, Baghdad Sniper, Guardian Feature on New Media.
Your Two Case Studies on New Media
All the material on Drive including exemplar plans and essays

Once you feel confident enough. please complete at least four of the new media questions from this list on the AQA website.

Write by hand unless you have permission to type in the exam
Take extra time if you are permitted it
Allow one hour to write your response.

Make sure you fully go through the relevant mark schemes and examiner reports before attempting the question. These are crucial for helping you to understand what you are expected to actually write.

DOING THE ACTUAL QUESTION SHOULD BE THE VERY LAST PART OF A LONG AND DETAILED PROCESS!! BEFORE WRITING THE EXAM YOU MUST RESEARCH AND PLAN IN DETAIL. ONLY ATTEMPT THESE QUESTIONS WHEN YOU HAVE COMPREHENSIVELY PREPARED. THIS MEANS HOURS OF PREPARATION, NOT MINUTES!!!!

It would be a good idea to use mediaedu as part of your prep work for these essays.
This is a tremendous revision website too.

All essays handed in to me first lesson back in April. NO EXCUSES!

Good Luck.
